Celebrating Lunar New Year 2014
Lunar New Year is best represented by the colour “Red”, which symbolizes joy and prosperity for Chinese all around the world. To welcome the Lunar New Year in January 2014, the Town Council literally painted our town red with bright red lanterns, auspicious couplets and decorative firecrackers to spice up the festive moods. Residents were treated to many traditional performances such as lion dance, face mask changing (bian lian) act, magical umbrella show, and more. Besides counting down with our MPs, the appearance by the God of Fortune at these events across the estates of Kaki Bukit, Kovan, Serangoon North and Hougang Central, heightened the festive mood as residents eagerly welcomed the Year of the Horse.
